Kia claims the petrol Sonet achieves 18.4 kmpl and the diesel manual 24.1 kmpl. These are lab numbers, actual life will be lower.The turbo-petrol automatic delivers nearly 11.6 kmpl in the city and 16.5 kmpl on the highway in real traffic. The diesel performs better, with owners claiming almost 18.6 kmpl on mixed roads.So, let's convert that into rupees. The price of petrol is approximately ₹102 per litre and diesel is approximately ₹95 per litre in Delhi at the moment. So:

The automatic gearbox has a clutch pack which wears out more quickly in heavy stop-start driving and repairs are expensive afterwards.
