Kia India has officially teased the Sorento, announcing that the brand’s flagship three-row SUV is coming to India. The teaser which was released on August 3, 2026, features a beautiful view of the Italian coastal town of Sorrento which is cleverly referenced in the SUV’s name.
The Teaser Confirms
The Sorento will be Kia’s first hybrid SUV vehicle to be launched in India. It will be expected to fit into Kia’s India lineup between the Seltos and Carnival which are both 7-seaters. This will provide Kia with a proper flagship SUV to sell to current owners wanting to upgrade within the brand.
Though the launch date, price, and complete specification sheet of the Sorento are yet to be announced, Kia has already started pre-bookings at its dealerships and on its official website. Based on industry reports, the launch is expected sometime around September-October 2026.
Expected Engine and Features
The Sorento is offered with a 2.5-litre petrol engine, a 2.5-litre turbo-petrol engine, a 1.6-litre turbo-petrol hybrid engine and a plug-in hybrid engine globally. The hybrid version is likely to be the highlight for India as Kia has confirmed that this will be its first hybrid SUV to be launched in the country. Specifics of the battery, power, and mileage have not been disclosed.
The features include a cabin around dual screens, a panoramic sunroof, and ventilated front seats. Like its recent launches, Kia is also anticipated to fit the Sorento with ADAS.

The Sorento is not a new nameplate for Kia. It has sold over 4.8 million units in 132 countries and has been one of Kia’s top 3 best-selling models globally in 2024 and 2025. Kia has a good track record to build on as it introduces the SUV to Indian showrooms for the first time.
